This is a wakizashi by Takahashi Nagashin, a renowned smith of the Bizen tradition from the late Edo period. Nagashin was the 17th generation of Wakasa Fuyuhiro and a swordsmith for the Unshu Matsue domain, studying under Kato Chounsai Tsunatoshi in Edo. This blade features a magnificent nagamaki-naoshi form with a brilliantly clear jigane and hamon. It exhibits a flamboyant sakachoji hamon with strong nie, and a yusho utsuri in the jihada, reminiscent of ancient Aoe masterpieces. This blade also bears a 'saidan-mei' (cutting test inscription) and is a famous item, being the first registered sword in Shimane Prefecture.
