This katana by Izumi no Kami Morikuni, a superior swordsmith ranked jô-saku by Fujishiro, features expertly forged mokume and itame-hada with chikei, and a brilliant gunome-midare hamon with long, pointed ashi. The nakago is suriage but the signature is intact, and it holds an NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon certificate. The Edo koshirae is a delight, with a Mogarashi Sôten tsuba, Ishiguro Masaaki fuchi-kashira depicting rats, and golden butterfly menuki.
