Description

This is a round iron tsuba with sukidashi-bori and inlay, made by Tomotomi, a craftsman for the Mori family and the 6th generation head of the Kawaji family, a mainstream Choshu tsuba school. It features a typical Choshu style with a round iron plate, square rim, and gold inlay, depicting two swallows and a willow tree in a tranquil scene. The tsuba comes with a paulownia wood box and dates from the mid to late Edo period.
