Description

This is a tachi from the late Kamakura period, signed '□mitsu'. It features an elegant form with a strong fumbari at the base and a slightly extended ko-kissaki, suggesting it was forged for foot soldiers or as a kodachi. The jigane is well-forged with ko-itame mixed with mokume, and the hamon is based on suguha with ko-notare and gunome, showing rich activity with sunagashi and kinsuji.
