This is a kogatana made by Yoshihara Kuniie, whose real name is Yoshihara Shoji. He is a highly acclaimed mukansa swordsmith, recognized as a holder of Tokyo's Intangible Cultural Property and former chairman of the All Japan Swordsmith Association. The kogatana is housed in a shirasaya.
