NihontoWatchBETAIron sukashi tsuba signed Umetada. The Umetada School was founded in the 17th century. Late Umetada work is said to resemble Shoami; this one feels earlier. It features partial basket weave carving on the plate, gold inlay on the chrysanthemums, a shakudo pillow in the ryo-hitsu, and subtle tekkotsu on the rim. Condition is quite nice.
