Description

This is a kogai (hairpin/utility knife handle) from the Edo period, attributed to Shonai. It features a suaka (plain copper) ground with a textured ishime-ji (stone-grain) finish, adorned with a high-relief carving of flower paulownia (hanagiri) and inlaid with colored metals. The piece comes with a Hozon Tosogu certificate.
