This is a katana by Fujiwara Saneyuki, a smith from Bungo Province during the early Edo period, around the Kanbun era. The Takada school, represented by Saneyuki, began in the Nanbokucho period and continued for several generations into the Shinto period. This particular work is highly regarded, comparable to Bizen works of the late Muromachi period, and is said to be easily mistaken for blades by Sukesada or Kiyomitsu.
