Description

A tanto by Kunitsugu of Soshu, dating to the late Muromachi period (Eisho 7th year). Kunitsugu, also known as Sudo Kunitsugu, was a swordsmith who trained in the Soshu style and served the Kokawa-dera temple in Kii province. The name Kunitsugu is derived from the shape of the 'kuni' character in the mei, which resembles a slatted door.
