This is a tanto by Sakuyo Masatoshi, also known as Tada Shiroemon, a disciple of Hosokawa Masayoshi and a swordsmith for the Tsuyama domain. Active from Koka to Genji periods, he led a prominent group of smiths in Mimasaka during the late Edo period. The blade comes with a unique lacquered saya tanto koshirae and is housed in a shirasaya, accompanied by an NBTHK Hozon certificate.
