Active from Koka to Genji periods, he led a prominent group of smiths in Mimasaka during the late Edo period. The blade comes with a unique lacquered saya tanto koshirae and is housed in a shirasaya, accompanied by an NBTHK Hozon Token certificate.

Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
