This katana is a work by Endo Mitsuoki, a Mukansa-ranked swordsmith from Echigo Province (Niigata Prefecture), who studied under Kurihara Hikosaburo. Mitsuoki is highly regarded as one of the great modern swordsmiths, known for creating numerous masterpieces and receiving many awards. The blade is accompanied by a black lacquered uchigatana koshirae and is suitable for iai and tameshigiri.
