This is a katana by Endo Mitsuoki, a Mukansa-ranked swordsmith from Echigo Province, dated October, Showa 46 (1971). Mitsuoki was a student of Kurihara Hikosaburo and is considered one of the great modern swordsmiths, having received numerous awards. The blade comes with a black lacquered uchigatana koshirae and is suitable for iai and tameshigiri.
