Description

This is a tanto, or short sword, made by Ikkansai Yoshihiro in the late Edo period (1843). Yoshihiro, whose real name was Suzuki Zenkichi, was born in Sayo no Nakayama in Suruga Province. He studied under Noritoshi, a descendant of Norishige, and was known for forging blades with a jigane similar to Norishige's. This particular blade is housed in a shirasaya.
