This katana was made by Masataka during the Shinshinto era. The blade features itame hada and hoso-suguha hamon with yakizume boshi. It is engraved with Fudo Myo-o and Vajra and comes with a koshirae decorated with chrysanthemum and phoenix maki-e.

The Edo period (1615 to 1868)
For two and a half centuries of peace the sword was the warrior’s legal badge rather than his weapon. Each great city developed its own manner, Edo’s tested strength against Ōsaka’s polished brilliance, until demand thinned in the era’s last decades.
We could not find an authenticity certificate on the seller’s listing. Japanese swords and fittings are normally papered by the NBTHK (or the NTHK). Without one, the attribution is the seller’s own assessment and has not been independently verified — treat it with caution and ask the dealer about certification before buying.
