This is a robust tanto (shotoho) crafted by Yoshihara Kuniie, a Mukansa swordsmith and Tokyo Metropolitan Intangible Cultural Property. The blade features a wide body, tight ko-itame hada, and a bright gunome-midare hamon. It is adorned with a magnificent engraving of a roaring tiger and Sanskrit characters by the renowned engraver Hashimoto Shuha. The tang is pristine with careful suji-yasuri, and the signature "Musashi ju Kuniie saku" is strongly carved.
