This is an antique Kougai from the Edo period, used to arrange Samurai hairstyles and stored in the Kougai Hitsu. It is made from Shakudou (an alloy of copper and gold) with Kin Iro-e (gold overglaze painting) and Nanako-Ji decoration. The Kougai is attributed to the work of Kyo Kanagu shi (京金具師) by NBTHK and comes with a Hozon certificate.
