This modern tachi is signed by Gassan Sadatoshi, the fifth head of the Osaka Gassan School, and was forged in 1979. Sadatoshi is a highly acclaimed contemporary swordsmith, recognized as a Mukansa Toko and designated an Intangible Cultural Property by Nara prefecture. The blade comes with a Tachi koshirae featuring a Shippou-ni Hanabishi family crest design on its fittings.

We could not find an authenticity certificate on the seller’s listing. Japanese swords and fittings are normally papered by the NBTHK (or the NTHK). Without one, the attribution is the seller’s own assessment and has not been independently verified — treat it with caution and ask the dealer about certification before buying.
