This is a pair of mumei (unsigned) menuki featuring a design of a flower basket with seasonal flowers, dating from the mid to late Edo period. Crafted from suaka (unalloyed copper), the menuki depict chrysanthemums, narcissus, camellias, and plum blossoms, symbolizing the continuous cycle of the seasons. The intricate carving and gold iroe (color inlay) on the baskets create a rich, three-dimensional effect, making them a charming and auspicious accessory for a sword mounting.
