This o-suriage mumei tachi, with its shallow sori and small kissaki, evokes the style of the Kamakura period. The hamon is ko-gunome midare in nioi deki with ashi and sunagashi, showing midare-utsuri, and the boshi is sugu-chokucho kaeri. The hada is itame nagare mixed with masame, with nashiji appearing in the monouchi area. The dealer offers a guarantee that the blade will pass Hozon certification from either the NBTHK or NPO Hozonkai.

The Kamakura period (1185 to 1333)
Nearly every later authority calls Kamakura the golden age of the sword: the first warrior government as patron, the great traditions at full strength simultaneously, and, tradition holds, the finest smiths of the realm rotating through Go-Toba’s court.
We could not find an authenticity certificate on the seller’s listing. Japanese swords and fittings are normally papered by the NBTHK (or the NTHK). Without one, the attribution is the seller’s own assessment and has not been independently verified — treat it with caution and ask the dealer about certification before buying.
