Specifications
2.7 cm
Inscription: "Kanemoto" Type: Tanto Length: 1 Shaku 0 Sun 2 Bu 5 Rin Sori: Slight Motohaba: 27mm Moto-kasane: 6mm Blade weight: 218 grams (All measurements are approximate) Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education. This tanto is described as being from not a later period but (late Muromachi period), so I think it is interpreted as a late-year signature of 2nd generation Magoroku Kanemoto. It is an extremely rare and powerful Hira-yaki, with a well-forged jitetsu, and intense hataraki with frequent sunagashi, kin-suji, deep nie-deki, and a masterpiece that shows off its ability and spirit without reservation, with both ji and ha being bright and clear. This is the first time I have seen a Hira-yaki Kanemoto. Magoroku Kanemoto was a swordsmith who worked in Mino Province during the late Muromachi period. The name Kanemoto has continued from the Muromachi period through the Edo period to the present day, and is a koto Saijo-saku and Saijo O-wazamono. He is one of the most representative swordsmiths of Sue-zeki. 598,000 yen (Tax included)
