NihontoWatchNihontoWatch古金工と極められた笹図目貫。 笹は、冬でも枯れず、強風にも折れず、邪気を払う力があると信じられ、縁起の良い吉祥画題。 本作は、赤銅地側面の溝に被せた金を挟んで留める古式の袋着を用いて笹葉を表す。「袋着」は薄い金板で地金を包み込んで制作される高度な技術で、古金工にみられる代表的な技法の一つ。 金袋着の葉には繊細な毛彫が施され、深みある赤銅との美しい対比をなす。枝葉に抜穴を透かして立体的にあらわす陰陽根目貫。簡潔な意匠ながら造形感覚と高度な技術をよく示した優品。令和五年(2023)特別保存刀装具審査合格。

The NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai, the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords) is a public-interest incorporated foundation founded in 1948 and supervised by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunkachō); it is based at the Japanese Sword Museum in Tokyo. Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
