Description

This is a high-quality wakizashi koshirae from the late Edo period, featuring a black ishime-lacquered saya with a distinctive 羽団扇紋 (Uchiwa family crest) suggesting provenance from the Yonezu family. The tsuka is wrapped in an intricate jabara-maki, and the fittings are a matching set of shakudo nanako with Oni Mitsu Kashiwa mon in high relief. The tsuba is an iron sukashi tsuba with silver inlay, and the kozuka and kogai are also shakudo nanako with tachibana motifs.
