Description

This kozuka features a bold design of a phoenix inlaid in gold on a shakudo nanako-ji ground, with delicate nanako work. The phoenix is rendered in a highly three-dimensional and powerful manner, reminiscent of a transom carving, with luxurious gold coloring. Kyo-Kinko refers to metalworkers in Kyoto who did not belong to the Goto family or other major schools, but often show the influence of the Goto school, producing many elegant works.
