This is a tanto attributed to Hidekuni of the Bizen Osafune school, active during the Muromachi period. Hidekuni is known for his flamboyant works and excellent cutting ability, being selected as a 'Saijo O-wazamono'. The blade comes with an aikuchi koshirae from the period, a wooden box, and a letter from Sakai Tadataka to his daughter Umeko, suggesting it was a wedding gift.
