The twentieth century nearly killed the craft twice: wartime distortion, then the occupation ban. The NBTHK’s founding in 1948 and licensed forging from 1953 rebuilt the sword as an art, crowned by Living National Treasures and the mukansa rank.
This is a modern authentic Japanese katana (Gendaito) signed by Noshu Seki Jyu Kanenori, a skilled swordsmith from Seki city, Gifu prefecture. Kanenori was recognized as a Rikugun Jyumei Tosho during WWII and continued forging swords post-war, with his works accepted multiple times at NBTHK exhibitions. The blade comes in a shirasaya case and includes a traditional sword carrying case and maintenance kit.
