Description

This is an unsigned iron tsuba attributed to the Aizu Shoami school, featuring a design of the moon and bats. It has a gentle rounded-square shape and is characterized by sukidashi-bori (relief carving) and suemon-zogan (inlay) techniques, typical of Aizu Shoami works. The piece comes with a kiribako (paulownia wood box) and dates to the Edo period.
