Description

This is an unsigned Kikuchi Yari, a rare ancient spear type originating from the Kikuchi clan of Higo province. Dating from the late Nanbokucho to early Muromachi period, it features a slender form with an uchizori (inward curve) and a sharp kanmuri-otoshi zukuri. The blade exhibits a refined jihada with flowing itame and masame, fine nie, and a subtle utsuri, while the hamon is primarily suguha with a large notare at the fukura.
