This is a Marugata (round) tsuba made by Masakuni of Bushu during the Middle Edo period. It features a Tetsumigakiji (iron polished ground) with Sukidashibori (carved) and Kage-Sukashi (openwork) design, and Zouganmimi (inlaid rim). Masakuni was a skillful craftsman who also signed as Karatsu jyu Masakuni.
