Description

This wakizashi is attributed to Kiyoshige, a swordsmith from Hagi in Nagato province during the Edo period, active around the Genroku era. It features a wide and thick body with a shallow curvature, displaying a dignified form. The jigane (blade steel) is a beautiful mix of itame and mokume with masame near the edge, showing abundant ji-nie and chikei. The hamon (temper line) is suguha (straight temper) with ko-nie, fine kinsuji, and sunagashi, returning to a small maru boshi.
