NihontoWatchNihontoWatch『源氏物語』に取材した、我が国の文学と美学の融合によって生まれた作品。京に栄えた大月派は、同地において育まれた伝統や文化を投影した作品を遺している。この目貫は、赤銅地をふっくらと打ち出して際端を絞ることにより肉高く立体的に見せる工夫をしており、表面には鏨を切り込んで衣服の揺れや手足の動きをすっきりと表現している。胡蝶の羽、迦陵頻伽の翼などは金の色絵で鮮やか。衣服の文様もまた細やかな平象嵌で艶やか。

The NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai, the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords) is a public-interest incorporated foundation founded in 1948 and supervised by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunkachō); it is based at the Japanese Sword Museum in Tokyo. Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
