Description

It’s here, it’s here—a sword that even the Sword Museum would likely desire has appeared. Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke is very well known to everyone as a master swordsmith representing the Osaka Shinto period. However, the works of the 5th generation Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke from around the Genbun era of the Edo period (1731) (295 years ago) are "phantom" works that almost no one has ever seen. This sword is wonderful for the sword world and is precious as historical material. The origin of the Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke lineage, which is honored with the title "Shinto Ichimonji," was in Kanbe, Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture, where the founder was a bushi serving Oda Nobukatsu, the second son of Oda Nobunaga. Later, the first generation Kawachi no Kami Fujiwara Kunisuke became a disciple of Horikawa Kunihiro—who is hailed as the founder of Shinto—in Kyo-Yamashiro, and later moved his base to Osaka hand-in-hand with Izumi no Kami Kunisada. This 5th generation Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke is the great-great-grandson of the first generation and is an ancestor of the modern swordsmith Kawachi Kunihira, who is currently the number one most popular smith. This sword displays a graceful sugata with a difference between the wide moto-mihaba and the saki-mihaba. As for the jigane, as you can see there is rust at the moto, but it is forged in itame-hada. The hamon is in nioi-deki, featuring Mt. Fuji burned into the moto and gunome-ba that looks like Miho no Matsubara toward the saki, showcasing the 5th generation Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke’s ingenuity with a gorgeous and wonderfully spirited edge. On this occasion, an elderly individual from an old family entrusted this to us, saying, "I have grown old and can no longer perform maintenance, so I have allowed rust to form. Please pass this phantom 5th generation Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke sword to someone who will cherish it at a low price." Because it is in a rusted state (sabimi), we are offering it at a special, exceptionally low price. Please enjoy this masterpiece by the 5th generation Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke, which is highly valuable as historical material.
