Description

Weight: 904g (excluding saya) It has arrived—a work that has been cherished for generations in an old family, featuring a bright nioiguchi and thick ashi. We present a katana by the master smith Soshu-ju Minamoto Tsunahiro, the 5th generation, who received the title of Ise Daijo on May 19th, the 3rd year of Manji (1660, 366 years ago). Since ancient times, he has been regarded as the teacher of the great master Nagasone Kotetsu. This katana exhibits a fine sugata with a distinct difference between the moto-mihaba and saki-mihaba and a graceful sori, appearing at first glance like a koto. The jigane is a small itame-hada forged brightly and powerfully; while some o-hada appears in places, it is considered a charming characteristic of its age. The hamon is a notare-ba in nioideki with ko-nie, mixed with gunome-ba. It displays many nie-suji within the ha in the Soshu-den style, with thick nie attached to the habuchi, making it bright and very well-executed. The luxurious koshirae, featuring a black ro-saya from the Edo period, an Owari tsuba with a magnificent shibuichi-ji fukurin, and a matching kogatana and kogai, adds further splendor to this katana by Soshu-ju Minamoto Tsunahiro. We have received this piece from an old family who stated, "We have grown old, so please pass this on at a low price to someone who will cherish it in the future." Therefore, we are offering it at a special bargain price. Please enjoy this katana by Soshu-ju Minamoto Tsunahiro, the smith long said to be the teacher of Kotetsu.
