NihontoWatch義弘は青森県の城下町、弘前市の刀工で本名は二唐保（にがら たもつ）、大正五年生まれ。二唐家は陸奥津軽藩のお抱え鍛冶を務めた一門で、江戸初期から四百年続いた青森で最も名の知れた一派。父は義信、兄は国俊と一家みな刀鍛冶で、昭和十六年から栗原昭秀や堀井俊秀らに学び、戦中戦後と鍛刀を続けた。 本作は二尺四寸を超え、その強い腰反りは太刀然とし古い備前物を意識した造り込み。元幅先幅広くずっしりとした重量感。一文字の重花丁子を思わせる互の目丁子刃文は高低差があり、小沸がたっぷりとついて小足長足が多く働きがある。地鉄は小板目肌が詰み、帽子は焼き幅広くやや尖り気味に返っている。生ぶ茎にも反りがつき、深い筋違い鑢目を入れて二字銘を切る。
