NihontoWatch信秀刀匠の本名は堀井正光。大正九年に堀井俊秀(秀明同人)刀匠の子として生れ、父俊秀刀匠の門人となる。 昭和51年、日本製鋼所退職後に有珠山の麓である伊達市竹原町に鍛錬所を設立し、作刀に専念する。 昭和50年、室蘭市文化連盟芸術賞、平成4年、北海道文化財保護協会創立30年記念特別表彰、北海道文化財保護功労者賞、勲五等瑞宝章など受賞する。 平成13年3月23日に81歳で没す。 父であり、鍛刀の業を学んだ師匠でもある堀井俊秀刀匠は、戦艦三笠の砲身の残鉄を加えて鍛えた「三笠刀」の作者としても著名で、近代(大正、昭和)を代表する名工である。 ※堀井家 初代 堀井胤吉(月山貞一・大慶直胤門人) ↓ 二代 堀井胤明 ↓ 三代(瑞泉初代) 堀井俊秀(秀明同人) ※「三笠刀」の作者として有名で、大正、昭和を代表する 刀匠の一人です。 ↓ 四代 堀井信秀 ↓ (分家)堀井胤次 ↓ 現 堀井胤匡

Shōwa to the present: destruction and revival
The twentieth century nearly killed the craft twice: wartime distortion, then the occupation ban. The NBTHK’s founding in 1948 and licensed forging from 1953 rebuilt the sword as an art, crowned by Living National Treasures and the mukansa rank.
