This wakizashi was made by Norimasa Hiro who lived in Buzen Kokura. He was originally named Yoshihiro and learned sword making in Bizen Osafune. In Keio 1, he was hired by the Kokura clan and became a clan craftsman, changing his name to Norimasa Hiro. The blade has a well-forged steel and a tight-knit hamon of gunome.

Under the Tokugawa peace the daishō became a regulated uniform, and demand gathered in the castle towns, above all Edo itself. The craft split two ways: brilliant display work for connoisseurs, and tested blades whose cutting results were sometimes inlaid in gold.
