This is a tanto made by the smith Tadatsugu. Tadatsugu was born in Katsushika, Tokyo in Taisho 10. He started making swords relatively late, and became a disciple of 1st Gen. Yoshihara Kunie in his late 30s. He was active in public, serving as a consultant for the All Japan Swordsmith Association, and was also involved in the production of dedication swords for the Ise Grand Shrine.
