This tsuba, crafted by Yanagimura Senju, a Mukansa artist from Okayama prefecture, features an iron ground with a round shape and openwork design of a heron chasing small fish under a willow by the water. It exemplifies the refined aesthetic of Akasaka tsuba, with sharp openwork and a delicate, layered forging pattern on the iron surface. The tsuba measures 8.32cm in length, 8.1cm in width, and 0.48cm in thickness at the seppadai.

We could not find an authenticity certificate on the seller’s listing. Japanese swords and fittings are normally papered by the NBTHK (or the NTHK). Without one, the attribution is the seller’s own assessment and has not been independently verified — treat it with caution and ask the dealer about certification before buying.
