This kozuka, dating from the late Edo period, features a design depicting Kajiwara Kagesue with plum branches in his ebira (quiver), a famous scene from the Battle of Ichinotani. The piece is crafted from suaka (copper alloy) with a nanako (fish-roe) ground, and Kagesue is rendered in high relief with gold accents. It skillfully captures the essence of the story within its limited space, contrasting the warrior's imposing figure with the lightness of the plum blossoms.
