This kozuka depicts the Chinese legend of 'Garyu Tensei' (drawing a dragon and dotting its eyes), where a painted dragon comes to life. Crafted from shakudo nanako-ji with high-relief gold and silver inlay, it shows an artist painting a dragon that appears to fly out of the canvas into the clouds. This piece skillfully captures the moment the dragon gains life and enters the real world, representing the finishing touch that brings something to completion.
