説明

This piece is a katana made by Yoshikuni during the Shinto period. The sword is in excellent condition and has been perfectly sharpened with almost no flaws or chips, but there is a trace of kitae on the sashiomote side about 8 cm from the munemachi. The Society for Preservation of Japanese Art Swords recognized this piece as a genuine Yoshikuni sword and certified it as Tokubetsu Kicho (exceptionally valuable sword) under the old system in 1971, and as Hozon under the current system in 2022, so there are two different certificates for the same katana. In addition, in 1953, Hon'ami Koson appraised this Yoshikuni sword wrote an evaluation on the Shirasaya as a sayagaki. Hon'ami Koson was a legend in the Japanese sword world who spent his life popularizing the sword hobby by founding the Japanese Sword Research Association in 1914 and publishing its journal, "Katana no Kenkyu" (The Study of Swords). This piece is equipped with period uchigatana as well as shirasaya. All fittings are of the period, and the scabbard has a kaerizuno. The scabbard is lacquered with high-grade mother-of-pearl inlay and is in very good condition. It is no wonder that this wonderful piece, which could be owned by the daimyo class, comes with two certificates of authenticity and a shirasaya with a sayagaki, a gem that will fully satisfy your sense of ownership.
