It features a black lacquer saya with horn fittings, an iron sukashi tsuba depicting ginger and plovers, and signed shakudo fuchi/kashira with nanako and gold inlay of samurai on horseback. The menuki are also shakudo with gold inlay, and the tsuka-ito is in immaculate condition.
