Muromachi turned sword making into an industry: the uchigatana rose with massed infantry warfare, Osafune and Seki produced bundle swords beside custom orders, and the Ming trade carried Japanese blades abroad by the tens of thousands.
This is a daisho set (matching katana and wakizashi) that has been handed down together since ancient times. The katana features a slightly extended kissaki and a hamon of chu-suguha mixed with choji-midare. The wakizashi has a well-forged jitetsu with ko-itame and mokume, and a bright, clear gunome-midare hamon. Both blades are housed in matching koshirae with black shino-nuri saya and fittings depicting the Genpei War.
