This katana is attributed to Yamato Aritoshi of the Yamato Taima School, dating to the Jōji era (1362–1368) of the Nanbokuchō period. It features a deep curvature, itame-hada jigane with utsuri, and a hamon close to suguha with prominent nijūba. The sword comes with both shirasaya and a decorative koshirae, and is certified by NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon and NTHK Tokubetsu Kicho.

Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit.
