This is an unsigned Shintō blade from the mid-Edo period, featuring an outstanding ō-itame jigane with abundant ji-nie and vivid chikei, complemented by a magnificent gunome-midare hamon richly animated with kinsuji. It is mounted in a Japanese Army Company Officer’s sabre-style guntō koshirae, complete with its original leather field cover and a rare brass suspension chain. Both the blade and the mountings are of exceptional quality, making this an excellent example of a Japanese Army officer's sword.
