This tsuba by Yoshimichi, a Mito metalworker known for realistic depictions of classical Japanese literature and historical figures, illustrates the Battle of Uji River. It captures the scene of Sasaki Takatsuna and Kajiwara Kagesue vying for the first crossing of the Uji River, with Takatsuna and Kagesue, who slipped past him, vividly rendered against the backdrop of the broken bridge.
