This is a rare naginata by Taikei Naotane, a high-ranking student of the renowned Shin-Shinto smith Suishinshi Masahide. Dated to 1834, it features a wide, extended form with thick kasane and a strong sori. The jigane shows flowing itame with masame, strong chikei, and thick nie, while the hamon is notare-based with ko-gunome, ashi, and yo, displaying abundant nie, sunagashi, and kinsuji, characteristic of his Soshu-den style.
