This is a complete uchigatana koshirae (sword mounting) featuring a black lacquer polished same-gawa (rayskin) scabbard. It includes a tsuba with a snow crystal design in shakudo, and solid gold lion menuki. The koshirae dates from the Edo period and measures 100cm in overall length.
