This is a wakizashi by Ichikansai Yoshihiro, also known as Suzuki Kurando, born in Suruga in Kansei 9 (1797). It is a magnificent piece with a wide body, thick kasane, and extended kissaki, featuring a beautiful jigane of itame and mokume hada with thick ji-nie and frequent chikei. The hamon is notare mixed with gunome, showing active hataraki such as ashi, yo, deep nie, and frequent kinsuji and sunagashi, resulting in a bright and clear nioiguchi. This is considered a masterpiece by Yoshihiro, who claimed lineage from Masamune.
