This is a sunnobi tanto by Masamori, a student of the renowned Satsuma smith Masakiyo. Masakiyo was permitted to engrave the Aoi Ichiyo mon by Tokugawa Yoshimune, and Masamori served as his代作者 (dai-saku-sha, substitute smith). This tanto features strong jigane, a bright and vibrant hamon with varied notare, abundant sunagashi, and active hataraki like inazuma.
