This is a high-quality tanto crafted by Heki Fujiwara Kanetsugu during the turbulent Bakumatsu era (1867). The blade is in excellent condition with a well-tempered itame jigane and ko-gonome hamon. It comes as a complete set with both a buffalo horn shirasaya and an aikuchi koshirae, featuring a unique Western-style kurigata.
