This is a tanto by Unshu Nagayoshi, a swordsmith who served the Matsudaira family of the Matsue domain during the late Edo period. The blade was forged in the castle town of Matsue in the year before Koizumi Setsu, the future wife of Lafcadio Hearn, was born. The tanto comes with an aikuchi koshirae and is in good condition overall, despite being in an old polish.
